We are a Registered Non Profit Organisation that believes that each child should have a teddy bear, to show that we care and we have since realised that they need more than a teddy bear, so we show we care by keeping in contact with the child, making sure it has clothing, shoes, blankets, food and so that they can grow to trust us enough to share dreams, problems and needs with us. We try to assist the families by teaching them sewing, growing vegetables, baking, etc, this gives them back their self confidence and dignity which is every human beings right.

We do this with the donations we receive and with the money raised from our charity shop at Island Market grounds, Sedgefield.

For The Adults:

We believe if you teach a man to fish it is far better than giving him a fish. We hope train adults in skills such as permaculture gardening – teaching them to grow their own vegetables both for their own consumption and to sell. Other skills include making articles from recycled materials for re-sale, baking, cooking, housekeeping, child-care etc. While in training we will supply one substantial meal a day, as we realize no one can be productive on an empty stomach.

It’s All About Uplifting The Community.

As employment is scarce in the rural areas and no means of transport to distant Industrial areas; people have lost their dignity, leading to alcohol and drug abuse. The victims of this are the children, many being abused, abandoned as well as being Aids Impacted Orphans. Many of these children have been raped at a very early age and are now treated as mentally disordered by their family or foster parents. Some are slow learners being abused by family members from babyhood. Others have no home and spend many a night sleeping under any shelter they are able to find. It is not unusual to find a young child scratching in refuse bins in the hope of finding something to eat or begging on street corners.

We cannot do this alone! We need support from caring persons around the globe.

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

We rely totally on fund raising and donations. All donations in cash or kind are extremely welcome as the need is great. Keep an eye on our wish list, which is ever changing.
